* ERIO at a consultation meeting with the European Commission
On the 5 April, ERIO attended a consultation meeting organised by DG Justice of the European Commission in Brussels. The meeting was attended by EU umbrella Roma and pro-Roma civil society and international organisations. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the thematic focus and the format of the 2017 European Platform for Roma Inclusion which will take place on 27-28 November in Brussels. The format of the Platform will be similar to the one used in 2015 and the topic will be “Transition from education to the labour market". The next consultation meeting is planned for mid-June.

* Czech NGOs report to UN that Government refuses to compensate women sterilized without informed consent

The Czech Women's Lobby, Czech Helsinki Committee and the League of Human Rights have warned the United Nations that the Czech Government has decided not to compensate women who have been sterilized without their informed consent. The state of midwifery and obstetrics in the country remains unsatisfactory, according to the NGOs.

* Czech Republic: Romani street musician shines in "Pianist of the Year" competition

Robert Ferenc, the talented young pianist about whom we wrote in the October issue of Romano voďi, has come in fourth place in the "Pianist of the Year" competition in the Czech Republic. The 24-year-old musician from Liberec performs almost daily at the Masaryk train station in Prague.
