* Good practices in promoting Roma and Sinti youth participation presented at ODIHR event in Warsaw

The event brought together Roma and Sinti activists from the OSCE area, including representatives of organizations involved in the Office’s Roma and Sinti Youth Initiative project, to discuss challenges facing young Roma and Sinti and explore how both civil society and public institutions are adapting to new, indirect forms of participation of young people, with a focus on Roma and Sinti youth.

* ODIHR event participants call for greater efforts to ensure security for Roma community in Ukraine

The event brought together representatives of civil society organizations and state delegations from across the OSCE area to look into security threats and challenges faced by Roma people in Ukraine and to identify possible ways to address them.

* Open Call for the 6th Roma Women Conference
By Council of Europe

The Sixth International Conference will focus on the issue of political participation and aims at obtaining concrete endorsements of Roma women by mainstream political parties. It will examine how to ensure the eligibility of Roma women candidates in local, regional, national and European elections in 2018-2019 through national legislative changes. In that context, it will examine existing electoral quota systems for Roma and Travellers and how they could be transcribed into the legislation of our member States so as to increase the representation of Roma and Traveller women at all levels of government.

The Council of Europe will target countries which envisage elections in 2018 and 2019. Target countries include: Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Republic of Moldova, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and Turkey.
